YellowStone Part 1

Our first buffalo and we aren't even in the park yet.

Yellowstone is alive almost everywhere you look.

We also got to see a wolf!

Munching on a carcass.

Swimming Buffalos!

Humans also have to cross rivers!

Heading to the Great American Eclipse

We stopped in Butte MT and it was a very sad mining town. We did see a giant pit of mining waste...Yippie!

From there we hit Bozeman MT which is much nicer. Tucker liked it because it had a great dog park and he met a new friend.
The food in the rockies has been pretty blah since we left the Denver area.

But Bozeman had a lot of good places and seems like a pretty fun town.
After Bozeman we drove to Buffalo WY where we are meeting up with my brother and his wife to watch the Eclipse.

We actually watched the Eclipse in Casper WY which was a bit of a drive but camping there was crazy $$$$ because of the eclipse.
With some experimentation you could take decent camera phone pictures of the eclipse using some eclipse glasses to shield the lens.

The eclipse viewing was a lot of fun. It wasn't as crazy crowded as we thought it would be.
 Almost there!

Below a full eclipse picture but take without any filters and on a DSLR camera.

The Ciemian Airstream Caravan of Two rides again!

On to Helena MT

Along the way we stopped at Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument. At the monument visitor center we got some info on the local BLM camping.
The Breaks are big we are only going to checkout a small portion of the monument and also the Town of Fort Benton where we grabbed coffee and checked out a few museums.
Big catfish like fish in the river at Fort Benton.

After checking out town we found our free BLM campsite.  It was right on the river and in the middle of nowhere.

There were a couple other campers too.
Nowhere was good place to be because there was a meteor shower peak that night.
With some experimenting I got a few good pictures.
Had I been less lazy I could have got slightly better shots using my tiny tripod and shutter remote.

Next time!

The next day we got to Helena MT and scored a great site at the local Fair Grounds.  We were the only campers!

We hiked Mt Helena which is right next to downtown and was a great hike. Tucker chased a deer all over.

Helena is a great town with barely any tourist element which is awesome.

We had a great lunch in town and these snacks after our hike.
