Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park

On the drive to St Petersburg FL we stopped at Homosassa Springs State Park. At one time the part was privately owned and operated as an exotic animal park.

Today it is owned by the state and is no longer home to any exotic animals.
To get into the park you have to take a boat ride on which you can se a lot of wild life, like turtles and birds and aligators.

I lied there is one exotic animal left. This hippo was given honorary Florida citizenship and allowed to stay in the park when it was transitiom to the state park.

I have a feeling he had nowhere else to go and it would have been expensive to get him there if he did.
Aligators!
 Pink Flamingos
Spoonbills
Manatees
Jumping fish!  With underwater manatee.
