Jasper to Banff on the Icefields Parkway

Today was mostly a drive day, we started out running some errands in town and then headed off to dump.

This took a while because everyone was heading home from their long weekends.

After that we set off for Banff.
The Icefields Parkway was a great road with lots of mountains and rivers to checkout.

And of course a glacier and an ice field. The picture above was from the Ice Field Center where we stopped for lunch. It was zoo!

It is a giant bus station of sorts as you can take a ride on a bus actually on the glacier.
Since we have already hiked a glacier on this trip and seen a number of others we didn't do much here other than eat lunch and enjoy the view.

They did have a little museum which had some good displays.

We did a short hike with Maxwell to view the lake in the shot above.

He really doesn't like the car but it is worth it if he gets a nice walk in.

The highway also has these animal overpasses so they don't have to be trapped on one side of the highway or cross the road itself.

Great example of the pushed up layers type of mountain in Banff.

We also stopped at Lake Louise along the way but it was raining and none of the pictures we blog worthy but it is an amazing place (although wicked expensive).
